Yoga

When Alex first came to the practice of yoga it was to supplement a strong running habit she had in college. She thought it sounded like something good to do to keep herself in running shape. As she continued practicing she began to find a deeper, quieter thread to connect with that called her back to the mat again and again. Since the beginning of her affair with this transformational practice she has explored many of the limbs of yoga, from physical postures and chanting to concentration and meditation. Throughout the life of her yoga practice, there have been times when her practice has ebbed and times when it has flowed, but always she has come back to her mat to dive into the absorbing flow of movement with breath.
Yoga can have infinite manifestations to an equal number of practitioners. From the overextended working parent, to the spiritually curious college student. Yoga can be applied as a physical remedy to help build strength, heal injuries and ease chronic pain, and it can also be a mental medicine to calm anxiety, hyperactivity, lethargy and other such issues. We can turn to yoga to bond with our babies, to learn focus, concentration and surrender to use during labor and to find solace in community. It can be an emotional balm to those in need of deep catharsis, and at times it is a platform for practicing our sense of humor and humility. Yoga is exactly what we need it to be.
Perhaps you are just starting out on your yoga journey and need some good ideas for strengthening your core and stretching your legs to get back to your activity of choice. Maybe in group classes the pace is too fast or your particular need isn’t being met, and a one-on-one session is needed to cater to your specific interest/ability level. Possibly you are working on developing a strong yoga routine to cultivate your home practice, or maybe you need to get away from your routine, get some rest and just stretch for an hour. A private yoga session is just what the doctor ordered to suit your exact need any and every time you come to your mat. In a private yoga session with Alex, we can work on any of these levels to meet your needs and bring your mind, body, breath and practice to a sense of balance.
Yoga is one of the most relevant ways that we can become more deeply embodied and to feel more comfortable in our own skin.
