Romania, The Carpathian Mountains, July 18-25, 2024
Travel Back in Time on this special trip to the rustic Carpathian mountainside. Spend a few days in the bustling, historic metropolis of Bucharest, sightseeing and exploring cultural landmarks, then leave modernity behind as you head in to the mountains to a simpler experience of your body, mind and nature. You'll slide into a daily rhythm of moving your body and mind, breathing fresh air, eating clean, farm-to-table meals, using your hands and living close to the earth. We will practice yoga and meditation every day, get outside for nature walks and exploration of the gorgeous, untouched flora and fauna of the area, both on foot and horseback. Use your hands to make ceramics and weavings in traditional Romanian style. Surrender into the restorative sensory experience of a soundbath to soothe the nervous system. You'll be delighted to have a chef from the nearby town of Sibiu come and make a meal for you in the outdoor summer kitchen of the retreat center Albastru si Origini where we will stay, and then eat at his restaurant when you tour Sibiu as well!
This is a trip of sensory delights and getting back to nature in the easy, simple way of connecting with the earth.
Testimonials From Past Retreats
*When you join a trip designed by Alex, chances are you'll be traveling with like-minded people. Everyone may have different backgrounds and interests in different yoga and outdoor activities, but you're ultimately bonded by a love of movement.
Having personally scouted destinations and led trips before, Alex is an expert — professional, friendly, and energetic to boot.
It's not often I can watch the sun rise and listen to the cowbells and other animals come alive in the morning and know that the rest of day will be just as wonderful moving from yoga to various activities, and respite from city life.
Not having to prepare food, then filling ourselves with the delicious meals with great company, meant we had plenty of energy to take on each day's activities.
Wonderful – that sums up what I feel when I think about our trip.

* The retreat was a terrific opportunity for us to center ourselves, improve our individual practices, and enjoy the company of other adventurous yogis. The retreat took us away from our busy schedules and gave us the gift of time for relaxation and self exploration. We particularly enjoyed the opportunity we were provided during the week to help out at a local school - giving back to the community. Alex and Miryam are both wonderful guides and yoga instructors, with a true love of life. They made our time special. We both returned from the retreat with a renewed commitment to yoga and a healthy life style. - Mary S. - Puerto Vallarta 2017
